Our Story

Preparing for gifted and talented tests is stressful. This is especially true for both young children and their parents. Private tutors are expensive, and too often, test prep companies will sell you a book or a practice test and leave you to figure out the rest, adding even more anxiety to an already-stressful experience.

Elm Academy was founded in 2021 to address this head-on. We’ve designed our online courses to minimize unnecessary stress and maximize your child’s performance. In addition to high-quality, realistic practice materials, each course is structured into individual, topic-specific lessons, reviewing specific concepts and building up to a full-length practice test. They also come with a helpful parent guide that includes recommended study schedules and additional tips to make your preparation experience go as smoothly and stress-free as possible.

Realistic Practice Tests

All of our courses include realistic, full-length tests to simulate a real test-taking experience. This allows your child to become familiar with the test’s structure and question types so that they aren’t seeing them for the first time on test day, and helps them work under the pressure of the limited administration time. Our courses include topic-specific lessons to help your child learn key concepts that are likely to show up on the real test. Our courses are test-specific, meaning they were designed to prepare your child for the test they are about to take. Competitors may offer you bundles or subscriptions that offer hundreds or even thousands of questions, but this is usually unhelpful as your child will spend time studying material that isn’t relevant. Each test has its own specific way of testing different concepts and vary in structure and style, so we find it’s best to offer courses that focus solely on the test your child is going to take.

Great experience! My son who is 10 y.o. and gifted in math, enjoyed practicing all tests (verbal, quantitative, and non verbal). The best course out there for OLSAT. It has the correct amount of difficulty to challenge a child’s thought process and diverse questions to hone different reasoning skills. I had 8 days to prepare my child for GATE testing and this last minute prep was more than sufficient to get her to the finish line. I highly recommend it for all children irrespective of whether they are testing for a GATE program or not.
