Realistic NNAT Practice Tests

The NNAT3 has a unique, entirely nonverbal format which can be challenging for young children experiencing it for the first time. The best way to familiarize your child with the NNAT3 is to take realistic, timed, full-length practice tests. This creates a realistic test experience that also helps them work under the pressure of the test’s limited administration time.

Course Structure & Study Schedule

Children, especially when they are very young, tend to struggle when faced with preparing for a daunting standardized test with little guidance or structure. As parents, it can be difficult to provide this for them without much familiarity of the materials, and oftentimes test prep companies will sell you practice questions and little else to work with. For this reason, we’ve designed a structured course outline that includes recommended study schedules and additional study tips for parents to help guide their children through the preparation process.

Detailed Lessons & Quizzes

The NNAT 1st Grade course includes one lesson for each unique question type found on the test, for a total of four lessons. Each is followed by a short quiz to reinforce the specific concepts covered in the lesson. The NNAT3’s question types are unique and will likely be completely new for your child. These lessons will allow them to become familiar with each of them before the test.

Pattern Completion

NNAT Pattern Completion Sample Question

Answer: The correct answer is the first option. If you look at the colors in the pattern, you can see that the right side of the empty box will be yellow, and the left side will be blue. This means you can eliminate the second and third answer choices. If you follow the line from the top of the pattern, you will see that it roughly cuts the empty box in half. This means the yellow and blue half of the missing box will be roughly the same size, so we can eliminate the fourth answer choice. Finally, if you look at the bottom of the box, you will see that it ends before the horizontal yellow section of the pattern begins, meaning that you can eliminate the fifth answer choice. This leaves you with the first answer choice as the correct answer.

Reasoning by Analogy

NNAT Reasoning by Analogy

Answer: The correct answer is the yellow oval. In the top row, the first shape is a triangle. The second shape is also a triangle, but it is narrower and stretched out. The color of the triangle does not change.

In the bottom row, the first shape is a circle. The correct answer will be a similar shape that is narrower and stretched out, which is the oval. It will also remain the same color, making the yellow oval the correct answer.

Serial Reasoning

NNAT Serial Reasoning

Answer: The correct answer is the figure with one blue heart and two yellow hearts. Each row row has the same shape in each frame. The only difference is that the number of shapes increases as you go across from 1 to 2 to 3. This means in the bottom row, the last frame will be 3 hearts.

The second pattern to notice is the color. In each row, the first frame has one blue shape. In the next two frames, the shapes that are added are all yellow, meaning the correct answer will have one blue heart and two yellow hearts.

Spatial Visualization

NNAT Spatial Visualization Sample Question

Answer: The correct answer is the fourth option, which shows a blue lightning bolt over a yellow crescent moon. Starting in the top row, the first frame shows a yellow sun. The second frame shows a blue circle. In the last frame, the blue circle has moved in front of the yellow sun.

The second row must follow the same pattern. In the first frame, there is a yellow crescent moon. In the second frame, there is a blue lightning bolt. If we follow the pattern seen in the top row, the last frame will show the blue lightning bolt move in front of the yellow moon.
